This international conference re-visited and re-evaluated the complex issues at stake in contemporary French women’s filmmaking from a variety of critical perspectives, investigating both continuities and new trends in the types of films women have made since 2000 (mainstream, independent and experimental), and reflecting on the modified kinds of feminist readings that films by women still allow.
An opening reception and film screening and the launch of a book linked to the conference theme took place at the Institut français, South Kensington, on Thursday 2 December 2010.
The conference itself took place at the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies (IGRS), London, on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 December 2010.
Ce colloque international a re-visité et ré-évalué d’une variété de perspectives critiques les questions complexes qui soutendent le cinéma des réalisatrices françaises contemporaines. Il a examiné les continuités et les directions nouvelles prises par les femmes cinéastes dans les années 2000 par rapport au cinéma populaire aussi bien qu’au cinéma indépendent et expérimental, et a réfléchi sur les possibilités de lecture féministe autorisées par les films réalisés par les femmes.
Une réception d’ouverture avec projection d’un film de femme et lancement d’un livre lié au thème du colloque a eu lieu à l’Institut français, South Kensington, le soir du jeudi 2 décembre 2010.
Par la suite, le colloque a eu lieu à Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies (IGRS), Londres, du vendredi 3 au samedi 4 décembre 2010.
